By far the best..

“I’ve been on many quilt retreats over the years and this one is by far the best.
We received a warm welcome from our 2 hosts, slept in comfy beds, ate very tasty food and spent a fantastic time with like-minded folk in a spacious and well-lit workroom which included a great design wall space and both ironing and cutting stations at the perfect height for easy access.

A real tonic..

The whole place has been designed and purpose built with a great eye for detail and comfort. A real tonic for those needing to recharge their batteries. I can’t wait to go back again.”

Luxurious..

“You may have visited a quilt retreat before, but it is unlikely that you have ever had the pleasure to stay somewhere like this. The accommodation is everything you want – brand new hotel quality beds and linens, luxurious showers, deep pile carpets, quirky touches like a themed mini quilt on the door of every room and antique sewing machines which have been transformed into lights!

Enormous Quilt Room..

The quilt room is simply enormous. There is ample room to spread out, and a huge cutting table and ironing station equipped with professional quality irons. The room is bright, light and airy and contains everything you need to ensure the perfect sewing environment.

Exceptional Food..

The food is exceptional. Your hosts, Julie and Michael Barnes have employed a professional chef to provide lunches and evening meals with stunning flavour combinations. At 3pm you are treated to homemade cakes and all the tea, coffee and cold drinks you can drink.

I found the whole experience relaxing, reviving and satisfying. I was amazed at just how much quilting I was able to complete as that was all I had to do! If you don’t want to quilt in the evening (why wouldn’t you?!) there is a comfortable living room with TV to relax in.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Quilt Retreat, and look forward to returning very soon.”

Really lovely place. I have been very spoilt this week by Michael and Julie, and feel very fortunate to have found such a great place.

The accommodation is excellent, the food divine and the facilities for quilting are brilliant.

Add in the quiet, tranquil atmosphere and great views from the quilting workshop and it’s perfect, especially at 3 each afternoon when cake arrives!

I’m very much hoping to come back again soon.

I just want to say a huge thank-you to you and your team for the wonderful four days we have just spent at the Quilt Retreat. You have thought of absolutely everything we could wish for, a light, spacious and well-equipped workroom, gorgeous food and cakes (!), lovely rooms and bathrooms, and lovely open spaces.  Everything has been done to such a high standard, and you are all so welcoming and friendly, and so generous with sharing your knowledge.  I can’t think of a better place to spend sewing time.  Thank you so much to all of you for making it so special.  I can’t wait to come back next year!

A huge thank you to Julie and Mike for a lovely relaxing few days. Everything had been so carefully planned and designed…from the accommodation to the food to the Quilting!

As a sewer but a completely novice Quilter I have come home feeling really inspired and encouraged. Julie’s help and guidance backed by all her years of experience was always there when needed but never intrusive. It was encouraging but not intimidating!

I wish you both the greatest of success that you so richly deserve!

Mike…I have never been chided for trying to do washing up before!! xxx (Michael chides everyone who tries to do the Butlers’ duties)
